Die Stimmung vor dem Spiel an diesem wunderbaren Frühlingsabend ist entspannt. Auch zahlreiche Anhänger der so gut wie abgestiegenen Arminia haben den Weg nach Bochum gefunden — ohne allzu große Hoffnungen. Doch Arminia siegt locker 4-1 und schafft es am Ende tatsächlich noch in die Relegation. Diese endet dann allerdings tragisch für den DSC.
Ich verliebe mich in die selbstgemachte Mettwurst, die es im Imbisswagen an der Straßenbahnhaltestelle gibt. Lecker!
The atmosphere in the stadium is relaxed on this wonderful spring night. There also are a good amount of guest fans in the stadium today cheering on Arminia Bielefeld without any great hopes however, since the team is on a relegation spot near the end of the season with nearly no hopes of staying in the division. Surprisingly, the Arminia manages to casually take home a 4-1 win tonight and are still able to make it to the relegation matches at the end of the season, which they end up tragically losing however.
I fall in love with the selfmade smoked pork sausage sold at a snack bar located at the nearby tram stop. Delicious!

Roda ist ein Verweis auf die Region, Juliana der Name der ehemaligen Zeche. RJC spielt seit dem erstmaligen Aufstieg in die Ehrendivision 1973 ununterbrochen erstklassig. In dieser Saison riecht jedoch alles nach Abstieg.
Das Stadion liegt nur einen Steinwurf von Aachen und der deutschen Grenze entfernt mitten in einem Gewerbegebiet. Es ist komplett von einer Mantelbebauung umschlossen und von aussen nur an den Flutlichmasten als Stadion zu erkennen.
The full name of today’s home team from Kerkrade, a city located in the south of the Netherlands, is „Sport Vereniging Roda Juliana Combinatie“, with Roda being a reference to the club’s region (Kerkrade, Herzogenrath) and Juliana being the name of a former coal mine. The RJC has been constantly playing in first division ever since their first promotion to the Eredivisie in 1973. This season however, they are fighting hard against relegation. The team’s stadium is located just a stone’s throw away from the German border and the city of Aachen within industrial estate. From further away, it is hard to tell that there is in fact a football stadium since it’s closely surrounded by tall, grey buildings, to the point where the only thing you can see from outside of the stadium are its floodlights.
